Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
After your meeting on Monday, you review your notes before contacting your team. It will be a most interesting project. The Wildhazels have told you that the lot will not be just for them, but it will basically be a small village for their “tribe”. It contains many challenges, and will stretch your creative abilities.
This should be a self-contained village to be built on a large (maximum 60 x 60) lot with a wooded, park-like setting and hidden from street view.
You should include multiple small homes or sleeping quarters with a community area for socialization and an area for outdoor family entertainment. All buildings should be raised from the ground with concealed access. There will be three families to start, but more may come later, so it would be nice to have room to expand.
As a community in general, they have a green thumb and are eco friendly. A garden and pond would be wonderful assets. They prefer to live off the land and are not comfortable with a lot of technology.
Project Brief:
Any size, maximum 60 x 60 wooded lot
At least 3 small homes/sleeping quarters
Community area
Outdoor Family entertainment
All buildings raised from ground with concealed access
Eco friendly, green thumb
Garden and pond a plus
Not comfortable with technology
No budget
No CC please, store content is acceptable
Project Due Dates
Phase 1 due Sunday, August 14
Phase 2 due Sunday, Sunday, August 21
Phase 3 due Sunday, August 28

Hey! Did you get a chance to see the new challenge yet? A fairy treetop village - super cool!
Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
Yes I did. I'll post the challenge rules/conditions here so we have something to refer to. I can't wait to work on this with the both of you.
This is gonna be a fun one.

Yes, I'm also really excited about this challenge. I'm thinking maybe KitKatt, you could do the landscaping first, and then I would do the architectural work, and interiors would go last. How does that sound to everyone? Because I know we need a lot of greenery and ponds and whatnot, and if there were a few spaces inside the faux-forest, I could build the houses and common buildings inside.
Before we should start, though, maybe we should come up with Lot Size and orientation of the place. My input is to use the biggest lot possible (60x60) and therefore have the most possible rooms and buildings. And maybe the whole place can sort of be in a circular design? Like there would be a circle of trees around the whole lot with a few houses scattered among the trees. There could be a bonfire or some kind of gathering place in the centre and buildings such as bathrooms, entertainment, and head house. (For the couple to live in) What do you think?

Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
Love those ideas, Vicky! I agree on the 60x60. For landscaping... I think the main buildings need to be in place before the detail work in this area is done. Otherwise, placing buildings can become tricky with the footprint of the plants (trees intruding into walls, and such). I could do some basic terraforming tomorrow, pass the lot off to you, and do the finishing work after that... or you could terraform and let me fill in. Technically, we're supposed to pass off in order... but whatever works I also want to have some elevation to the lot - it could either be a gradual elevation leading to the central area at the highest point, or higher slopes all around with the central area in a valley... what do you guys think?
Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
I think it would be smart to do the buildings before the landscaping as well. Easier.
I like the elevation idea Kitkat. I can't wait to do the interior I have a lot of store content that i may use so going last is perfect for me.

Elevation would be nice, so I agree on that, but maybe small, teeny weeny little hills where a few trees have been planted? Not sure. Alrighty, I'll do buildings first. I know whe should include all elements, but I was thinking maybe 5 houses instead of three? that is, if I can fit them, but it would be a nice touch, don't you think?

Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
Hmmm - I'm good with extra buildings, but I'll give that approval to WhisperingTruth as she'll have to decorate them all
Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
Great! Since we're going with elevation, I presume, can you (KitKatt) do a simple plan with the raised ground and upload it to a file sharing website? I'll get on to the buildings as soon as possible. What type of roof do you guys think should be used? (I have this big thing about roofs. They have to be *perfect* )

Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
On it! Won't let me add a link, WT Can you fix that? I just did a very basic elevation with three tiers. Place the buildings anywhere, and I will make pathways/stairs to give access once the building is done. Feel free to add more raised space if you need it, and I can smooth and blend again later. As far as the roof... I like the pagoda with the curvature maxed out so that it kind of turns inside-out. Looks kind of Elvish to me
Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
I still can't add links on this site... Vicky, I'm going to put it on my blog on TS3 - Kittkat7147
Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
Are you clicking the little link button at the top of the editor? And pasting them in the little box that pops open?
Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
Hey girls! Are we still working on this? The architecture phase was technically due last Sunday. We should already be on phase 2...
Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
Scoiottolo just said he would build for us if he can have til Monday. Can you get the interiors done during the week and pass off to me Saturday?
Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
I can try...I start back to college Tuesday, but I could probably work on it Monday and Wednesday and Friday.
Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
Do your best. And Sherry is usually pretty good about extensions for teams who lose a member. We might can squeak out an extra day or two if needed. I'll have to start on Saturday, but we can submit a split lot (one lot w/ landscaping and one with interiors) if need be. Glad we found another builder - I don't want to miss out on this one!
Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
Hey! If you didn't see already, Scoiottolo has posted the build - http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=4504954 A day early!
Re: Team Challenge on Sims 3 Forum - Brainstorming
I just got back from a trip to the mountains, so I will start working on it now.
